Embark on a journey through Athens, Greece’s rich history and culture, with this comprehensive tour of Athens. Visit the iconic Acropolis, home to architectural masterpieces such as the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum. DAY 1: ATHENS ARRIVAL
You will arrive in Athens on the first day and be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is open for you to spend as you wish. You will stay overnight in Athens.
DAY 2: ANCIENT ATHENS TOUR
On the second day, you will begin your tour with breakfast at the hotel.
You will start the day by visiting the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, then transfer to the Acropolis to see the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens, including the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the Parthenon.
You will also visit the Aeropagus (Mars Hill), where Apostle Paul preached, and the Ancient Agora, the centre of political and commercial life in Ancient Athens.
After lunch, you will continue visiting the New Acropolis Museum. Then, you will drive along the coastal road, past the beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza, to Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. You will have time to walk around the rocky promontory of Sounio before returning to Athens centre. You will have dinner in a local restaurant that serves authentic Ancient Greek recipes and have an Italian-speaking escort. The trip will end with the return to the hotel overnight.
DAY 4: FOLK HISTORY TOUR OF ATHENS
On the fourth day, you will start your day with breakfast at the hotel. Your program for the day includes a visit to the Greek Folk Art Museum, where you will tour Greece’s history through the evolution of the country’s folk art. The museum features rich collections of objects representing various branches of folk art such as embroidery, weaving, costumes, masquerades, shadow theatre, silver work, metal work, pottery, woodcarving, folk paintings and stone carving. The collection dates from 1650 till today.
Later, you will take Greek Folk dance lessons at the famous Dora Stratou Theater/ School, either in the indoor hall at Philopappou Hill or a location of your choice, with teachers with many years of experience. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance as well as educational material.
After the end of the lesson, you will proceed to lunch in the historical centre and then transfer back to your hotel.
In the evening, you will have a traditional Greek dinner, live Greek Music, and a Greek dancing show, in which you will participate and practice the dances you learned in the morning. After dinner, you will be transferred back to your hotel overnight.
DAY 5: MODERN-DAY ATHENS TOUR
On the fifth day, you will begin your day with breakfast at the hotel.
You will start the day by taking a walking tour through Athens’ primary food Market- the Varvakeios Street Market, observing the locals in their daily food shopping and interacting with them.
